We get it. It’s wet, it gets dark at 4PM, and more than anything else, it’s cold as heck! Winter is once again here in Ottawa and while its nice to have the Holidays, there’s not much to look forward to again until the big melt. But warmth is still months away and our customers are calling in asking “Is it too cold to tint my Windows?”. While that certainly is the case if we tinted outdoors, the temperature-controlled environment of our Window Tinting shop in Ottawa is specifically designed for us to tint cars all year ’round.

We have been tinting windows in Ottawa since 1994, that’s 25 years ago now. Over the years, we’ve been asked this question countless times. And while other Window Tinting stores in Ottawa may turn you away, our full-time installers prepare and tint vehicles so they leave with a perfect window tint, every time no matter the weather.

GENERAL RULE OF THUMB FOR OTTAWA WINTER WINDOW TINT

The cold weather doesn’t inhibit our Window Tinting services in the Winter, however, there is something to keep in mind. Window Tinting is applied to windows via a wet application method. This means that once installed, there is going to be moisture between the window pane and that fresh sheet of film. Our installers do their best to limit the amount of moisture but it still needs some time to evaporate out; this is why we ask you do not roll your windows down immidiately after picking up your vehcie.

In the Winter, this moisture does not recieve the same amount of heat and Sun that it would normally get in warmer months. With that in mind, we ask our customers to give the windows 3-5 days before rolling down their windows. After that amount of time, moisture should not be present between the window and film.

All our window tinting in Ottawa is covered by a lifetime warranty against peeling, bubbles, and discolouration.

WINTER WINDOW TINT INSTALLATION

Winter weather and temperatures may not complicate the installation of Window Tinting in the Winter, but it should be known that freshly tinted windows always has residual moisture that needs to evaporate following installation. With colder temperatures and less sun, this moisture takes more time than in warmer months to evaporate, leaving what could be considered as ‘streaks’ on the windows for 3-5 days, instead of the usual 2-3 days.

Our Window Tinting customers should not be alarmed, this is completely normal and given some more time, the marks will go away and the windows can then be rolled down without worry.

Any peeling, discolouration, or bubbling is covered by this warranty and clients are not charged for the removal or re-installation of new Window Tint film. This differs from other shops as some will gladly replace your window tint with a small charge for film removal.
