What is a receiver hitch?
Receiver hitches are the most common, versatile type of hitch. They can be found on everything, from compact SUVs to full size trucks. They attach to your vehicle’s frame (rear bumper area) exposing a square receiver tube that accepts a variety of towing accessories, such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers.
Receiver hitches are divided into five classes, making them suitable for a wide range of towing needs, from pulling a small Thule cargo carrier to hauling a large camper or a boat.
What is a 5th Wheel hitch?

A 5th Wheel hitch is a heavy duty coupling system mounted directly in the bed of a truck. They connect to the kingpin on a 5th wheel trailer. The hitch’s jaws lock secure around the kingpin, while the pivoting head plate ensures smoother turning and stability during highway towing.
They’re ideal for large RVs, campers, and travel trailers requiring higher towing capacities and better control. Being mounted over the rear axle, 5th wheel hitches provide better balance and reduce trailer sway when long distance hauling.
What is a Gooseneck hitch?
A Gooseneck hitch is another in-bed towing system. Typically found on commercial and agricultural applications. Instead of using a kingpin, they connect using a ball and coupler system mounted directly to your truck’s frame.
Gooseneck hitches are known for their tight turning radius and even weight distribution. A popular choice for horse trailers, livestock hauling, and flatbed equipment trailers. They’re extremely strong and efficient, however less practical for recreational towing compared to a 5th wheel system.
What is a Weight Distribution hitch?
A Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH) is not a standalone hitch type, but an add-on system that works with receiver hitches. They make use of spring bars, chains, and brackets to spread your trailer’s tongue weight evenly across the axles of both your vehicle and your trailer.

What is a Pintle hitch?

Our experts will asses your vehicle and choose the correct, warranty compliant hitch class.
Do I need wiring or electrical work when installing a trailer hitch?
If your trailer requires the use of lights, brakes, or turn signals, you’ll also need a wiring harness to sync your vehicle’s electrical system to the trailer. Typically, the wiring installation is done at the same time as the hitch installation and customized to fit your vehicle’s make and model.

No, when installed according to your manufacturer’s guidelines, a trailer hitch will not void your vehicle’s warranty. Our experts use vehicle specific mounting hardware and follow manufacturer specifications to ensure your warranty remains fully intact.
