The major differences between roll-up and foldable tonneau covers
Tonneau covers come in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles. The shape and size is determined by the shape and size of your truck’s bed, as the tonneau cover is designed to cover the entire bed side to side and end to end. The style however should be chosen depending on your cargo housing needs.
Roll-up tonneau covers are generally cheaper of the two styles. They are usually made of kevlar or heavy-duty vinyl and offer the ability to quickly roll-up the tonneau for access to your cargo. The only real detriment of this style of tonneau cover is that it can easily be broken into.
Foldable tonneau covers offer increased security and durability over the roll-up style. They usually fold into three or four sections, with the last section leaning against the back of the cab so you can use the full length of the truck bed. The section that leans onto the rear cab window has a rubber or foam buffer so as to avoid scratching or dinging the cab or rear cab window.
